The International Institute on Territorial and Environmental Dynamics started its activity in 2011 as an Iranian-Italian Scientific Cooperation Programme untitled “International School in Heritage Management”. II.TED’s first activity was the coordination and organisation of the first edition of the Urbanization and Cultural Landscape workshop in Torino-Italy.
II.TED was officially founded in 2014 by Siavash Laghai (Secretary General), Hassanali Laghai and Gabriele Corsani in Florence. In 2019 Elgar Kamjou has joined us. We received the kind support and collaboration especially of Alessio Re, Angioletta Voghera, Claudia Balocchini and Simone Celata during these years.
We express our gratitude and appreciation for contribution and collaboration of Alessandro Scotti, Attilia Peano†, Frédéric Vidal, Gianluca Simonetta, Giulio Mondini, Jukka Jokilehto, Lodovico Folin Calabi, Maria do Rosario Oliveira, Marianna Bacci Tamburlini, Roberto Gambino† and Walter Santagata†.
So far II.TED had more than 130 among its participants, collaborators and members.
II.TED aims to contribute to Target 4.7 of Sustainable Development Goals on quality education focusing on cultural diversity and Education for Sustainable Development. It also aims to contribute to Target 17.17 of Sustainable Development Goals on effective partnership for sustainable development and target 11.3 and 11.4 of Sustainable Development Goals on sustainable cities and communities, to “make cities and human settlements inclusive, resilient and sustainable”.
II.TED activities are listed under two main categories:
1. II.TED School of Heritage Management,
2. II.TED Territorial Sustainability and Resilience Cities framework.
II.TED School of Heritage Management actively organises series of international scientific cooperation programmes since 2011, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, UNESCO Education for Sustainable Development and UNESCO World Heritage Operational Guidelines. One of these activities include the Urbanization and Cultural Landscape Programme (Italy 2011-2019).
II.TED’s Territorial Sustainability and Resilience Cities framework gives consultancies, capacity-building tools, and design cooperation projects in collaboration with governmental and non-governmental organisations, private firms and locally based communities, such as the Inter-regional workshop on World Heritage and Sustainable Development (Pakistan 2017), and UNESCO Capacity Building workshop on Management Planning of World Heritage Sites in Iran (Iran 2015).
